I matriculated in 1979 from the Johannesburg School for Art, Ballet and Music (School of Performing Arts, Parktown).
After attending the school for 5 years, I was awarded 2 distinctions in sculpture and painting and in my final year, I was elected Head Boy. After leaving school, I studied Graphic Art at Pretoria Technicon and completed 1 year of basic training in this field. After returning from my military service in 1983, I joined an advertising agency and am currently still in this line of work, but my love for sculpture and painting is still very strong and I use every free moment to pursue my passion.
I have extensive knowledge in oil and acrylic painting and have tried my hand at wax sculpture, wood carving and water colour.
I get my inspiration from the natural beauty of our country. I love painting scenes that have open spaces filled with sunlight, shadows and earthy colours. I feel the need to capture the mood of the setting, so that the viewer can relate to the scene.
I have a passion for unique settings and am always on the look out for that special scene.
In the 1980’s I was a regular at the Johannesburg Art in the Park, where I exhibited my paintings and sold a number of my favourite pieces.
